My garden

I realised today that I don't spend time in the garden any more.

In South Africa, I would sit on my bench in my lovely garden every evening.
This was the most relaxing part of my day.
I planted the garden from scratch.
It was designed by me with so much love.
I would get so excited when there was a new flower.
Or when my Silver Birches started shooting up.

This photo is of my Silver Birches and bench.

I don't have a photo of my Leopard Tree.
My favourite tree in the world.
I wonder how big it is now.
It was planted in the middle of the garden to give shade in Summer, but not in Winter.

I think the reason I don't spend time in the garden over here is many - fold.

I am too busy with the inside of the house.
I have beautiful nature all around me, so I don't need to go into my tiny garden to get it.
I am not as stressed as I used to be, so don't need that recharge.
I didn't build this garden from scratch, so don't feel very attached to it.

All good reasons to have left my beautiful garden behind.
But, I wonder how my trees are doing.
And I miss my evenings on the bench.

  1. I definitely miss your garden. It was really beautiful especially just before we led re country. Don't worry though, life will provide other lands to us that will be in need of a garden... And you'll get to have another go.
