Winter reflections

I wasn't going to blog today. But then, I sat outside and looked all around my little courtyard. I felt my mom's presence as we admired all the beauty around me. She instilled the love of gardening and beauty in me. Whenever I appreciate a beautiful flower, she is there. I do not miss her anymore, I have learned that when I still my mind and focus on her, she is there.

There is no death. Only transformation. And whenever we think of someone who is no longer physically here, they are with us. We just need to trust our feelings, they are our eternal compass. Still our minds, and bask in appreciation. And all is clear.

Here are some photos that I took on this winter morning.
Sparkly fairy lights
Azaleas in bloom
Hyacinth bulbs
New gardenia planted in old watering can
Moss
Bulbs coming up
And the inspiration for my writing and sharing on this space. My two beautiful children. The ones who remind me to laugh. To play. To stop taking all of this so seriously. I have eternal gratitude for what they teach me every single day.

Yes, winter. I do love you. You bring me the clarity and peace that opens me up the wonder of this beautiful world.

Blessings to you.

  1. what a lovely post. I think pretty much the same way as you.. I have so many people that have passed, and yet they are all around me , all I have to do is think of them and they are there in memories and feelings. Winter is special in its own way isnt it!

  2. Ola, I'm glad you did blog today. Oh, this Capricorn full moon's energy! Take it easy Sweetie. You have such wise words to offer us all. Lovely too to see the azaleas. I only found out recently that they are from the Himalayas. So many of the pretty pinks are reflected in Tibetan clothing. Your children are shining too. Best wishes with the move, xxx. Much love, Katie xxx.

    1. Thanks Katie. It's always so lovely when you shine your bright light here on my blog. I love my azaleas, they were a birthday gift from a dear friend last year. I think of her and our friendship every time I see them. Flowering plants are awesome birthday gifts, I have decided!

  3. I wish to declare to the blogger world that the picture of the Moss is officially one of the best pictures you have ever taken and I love it for all its abstractness... I see life coming out of the earth and moving the bricks out of the way! Yet another reminder from nature that everything grows, and everything changes. How beautiful. I have made it my desktop background on my computer I love it so much.

I feel I should say something about the beautiful words that you have written here to, but I'm afraid I can't take my eyes off that photo. It's inspired. I'm inspired. I love you.

  5. Ola your words always tell such a beautiful story to me. It sounds like you are at peace when you talk about your mother knowing that she may not be here in body but with you always in spirit. Winter I do love it very much too. Look at your two beautiful souls, children encourage us to stop and enjoy the innocence of life don't they. Have a happy Thursday Ola. x

  6. Absolutely beautiful reflections. I love that: there is no death...only transformation. I couldn't agree more. And I love that you listen to these feelings inside you. We are nature and nature speaks softly. So all we have to do is to slow down and listen. Your words are so full of wisdom :-) x

    1. Yes, I agree that we have to slow down and listen. I loved breastfeeding because it was the time for me to be still and really present. Such a gift, to have a meditation every time we feed our little ones, don't you think? It's all about finding the stillness and beauty in our every day lives, isn't it?
